IP address plan

The IP address plan holds your infrastructure networks (management, storage, uplinks and so on) and also lists every subnet used by your lab projects, so you can spot overlaps before they bite.

  1. Open IP address plan and click Add network.
  2. Fill in:
    • Name and Purpose (e.g. “Hypervisor management”).
    • Scope (host): leave it empty for a network shared by all hosts (Global), or pick the one host it lives on.
    • VLAN ID and Bridge / port group / vSwitch (e.g. vmbr0, VM Network).
    • IPv4 subnet and IPv4 gateway, and/or IPv6 prefix and IPv6 gateway.
    • DHCP range, if the network has one, and Notes.
  3. Save.

Hosts and VMs that you give an address in this network count towards its Hosts used / usable column.

Each row is one subnet, IPv4 or IPv6 (Family), with its VLAN, Gateway, Size, usage, Scope, bridge and DHCP range. The Source column tells you where it comes from: an infrastructure network you added here, or a VLAN in a lab project. Lab VLANs are edited on their project’s IP schema by VLAN tab (see Simulation labs).

Use Filter subnets… to find a subnet, VLAN or name.

The Infrastructure address checks card flags overlapping subnets and duplicate infrastructure addresses. When it’s clean it says No overlapping or duplicate infrastructure addresses. Problems in lab projects show in Documentation health on the Overview.
