Overview
Overview is the first page after you sign in. It summarises your whole lab environment and points out documentation problems.
What’s on the page
Section titled “What’s on the page”- Summary tiles: hypervisor hosts (with total CPU threads and RAM), VMs / containers, simulation servers, lab projects (and how many are active), NOS images (and how many vendors) and infrastructure subnets (and how many lab VLANs).
- Host capacity: vCPU, RAM and storage allocated on each hypervisor host compared with what it has. All hosts opens Hypervisor hosts.
- Simulation servers: each GNS3, EVE-NG, Cisco CML or Containerlab server, with its projects and resource headroom. All labs opens Simulation labs.
- Recently updated projects: jump straight back into the labs you worked on last.
- Documentation health: problems found across all your documentation.
Fix Documentation health findings
Section titled “Fix Documentation health findings”Each finding names the record it’s about and links to it. NetSimLab checks for:
| Finding | What to do |
|---|---|
| Duplicate IP address | Two devices, hosts or VMs share an address. Change one of them. |
| Overlapping subnets | Two networks or lab VLANs overlap. Resize or renumber one. |
| Address outside its subnet | An interface address doesn’t belong to its VLAN’s subnet. Correct the address or the VLAN. |
| Incompatible image | A device uses an image that isn’t marked as supported on that lab’s simulator. Pick another image, or add the platform to the image in the NOS image catalog. |
| RAM overcommit | VMs on a host, or devices in the active labs on a simulation server, need more RAM than it has. Shrink allocations, stop a lab, or add RAM. |
When everything is clean, the card says No address conflicts, capacity or compatibility issues detected.
Search everything
Section titled “Search everything”The search box at the top of the left-hand menu searches names, IP addresses and VLANs across every module. Pick a result to open it.
